Benjamin Snyder, Principal

Mr. Snyder graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.A. in history and earned his Master’s in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has two daughters, and he enjoys spending time with his family and watching the Hokies in his free time. Mr. Snyder has been with Chesterfield County Public Schools for 18 years, and this is his fourth year at Cosby.

Kathryn Fial, Associate Principal

Ms. Fial graduated from VCU with a B.S in Psychology and Master’s of Teaching in Middle Education (4-8) as well as a Post-Master’s Certification in Administration & Supervision. Prior to joining Cosby in 2009 as an Assistant Principal, Ms. Fial taught middle school science, social studies and math and spent three years on the Manchester Middle School administrative team.

Christopher Wahrman, Associate Principal

Mr. Wahrman began his career in high school education in 2006 after earning a B.A. in History from Christopher Newport University. He earned a Master’s in Educational Leadership in 2011 from Concordia University. Mr. Wahrman spent 2 years at Buckingham County High School and 11 years at Clover Hill High School as a history teacher and coached several sports including football, basketball, baseball, and boys’ volleyball. Prior to coming to Cosby, Mr. Wahrman was an assistant principal at his alma mater, Prince Edward County High School in Farmville, VA. Mr. Wahrman and his wife have two sons and reside in the Cosby district. In his free time, Mr. Wahrman and his family enjoy watching and playing sports as well as traveling and camping.

Headshot of Amanda Dunbrack

Amanda Dunbrack, Assistant Principal

Ms. Dunbrack was raised in Northern Virginia and earned her B.A. in English and initial teaching licensure at The College of William & Mary (Go Tribe!). Ms. Dunbrack began her teaching career in Prince William County Schools where she taught English at first Battlefield High School and then Patriot High School as a member of its inaugural staff. In addition to teaching, Ms. Dunbrack coached both field hockey and soccer for many years. She relocated to Chesterfield County in 2014 and taught English at Manchester High School. Ms. Dunbrack earned her M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University and has been serving as an administrator at Cosby High School since 2019. Ms. Dunbrack resides in the Cosby District with her husband, two children, two dogs, and lots of chickens. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the amazing food destinations around Richmond, watching sports, and spending time with friends and family.

Jennifer Varga, Assistant Principal

Originally from Pennsylvania, Miss Varga relocated to the area so that she could be closer to family while she expanded her career in educational leadership. With an undergraduate degree in English education from West Chester University, she began her educational career as a high school English teacher. She later earned her master’s degree in educational leadership, and took on an instructional leadership position at an alternative school in PA. From there, she returned to the public education system, where she had the honor of serving as an assistant principal for grades PK-8. Now back at the high school level, Miss Varga's educational path has come full circle, and she is thrilled to be setting her roots down in Virginia!.

John Poss, Dean of Students

Mr. Poss has been a dedicated educator since 2017, beginning his career as a social studies teacher at Amelia County High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina and furthered his education with a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Longwood University.  Outside of the classroom, Mr. Poss was the Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Manchester High School (2020-2024) and has also coached for FCA Richmond and River City Elite on a club level. His coaching philosophy emphasizes teamwork, resilience, and personal growth, mirroring his educational approach.  Mr. Poss resides in Chesterfield County with his wife and two sons. As a family, they enjoy attending college and professional sporting events, fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, and experiencing live music. Mr. Poss is excited to bring his experience and passion for education to Cosby High School, where he will serve as the Dean of Students, fostering a supportive and dynamic learning environment for all students.

Merel Williams, School Counseling Coordinator

Mrs. Williams has been a school counselor for close to 30 years, starting her career in Fairfax County before relocating her family to the Richmond area. She received her undergraduate degree in Family Studies from the University of Delaware and a Master’s degree in Education and School Counseling from West Chester University in Pennsylvania. Mrs. Williams was selected as Cosby Teacher of the Year in 2011-2012.

Mickey Swartz, Director of Student Activities

Mr. Swartz earned his B.S. in Social Sciences (Secondary Education) from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. Prior to becoming the Director of Student Activities, Mr. Swartz taught Social Studies and coached football and baseball. This is his 23rd year in education and his 14th at Cosby.

Dr. Janet Worsham, Coordinator of Special Education and Transition Planning

Dr. Worsham is a proud graduate of Virginia State University (B. S. in Accounting and M. Ed. in Education), Grand Canyon University (M. Ed. in Educational Administration & Supervision), and Liberty University (EdD in Curriculum & Instruction). She has over 20 years of teaching experience as a Special Education teacher and two years of administration experience in correctional education. Dr. Worsham has taught in the elementary, middle, high, and alternative education settings. Dr. Worsham loves spending time with her son and family. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and shopping. This will be her fourth year working for Chesterfield County Public Schools.
