Dr. Elizabeth Baber, Principal

Dr. Baber earned her BS in Biology and Chemistry, Masters in Teaching, Certificate in Education Leadership, and Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to becoming the principal of Matoaca High School in 2020, she served as a Biology, Chemistry, and Anatomy and Physiology teacher, the Specialty Center Coordinator for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, Dean of Students, and Associate Principal for Midlothian and Monacan High Schools in Chesterfield County.

Roscoe Johnson III, Associate Principal

Mr. Johnson holds a B.S. in History and Secondary Education from Eastern Mennonite University and a Special Education endorsement from James Madison University. He earned his M.A. in Administration and Supervision from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). With over 22 years of experience in the classroom, he taught Civics, World Geography, Government, and Special Education. Before becoming Associate Principal at Matoaca High School, he served as an Administrative Intern/Dean of Students at Short Pump Middle School, Assistant Principal at Clover Hill High School, and Associate Principal at Meadowbrook High School.

Dr. Scott Birmingham, Assistant Principal

Dr. Birmingham graduated from the University of Richmond with a B.A. in French with a Business Option/Minor. After graduating, he pursued a degree at the University of Virginia and obtained a Masters in Teaching Foreign Language degree (while minoring in Spanish & pursuing advanced graduate courses in Spanish). Prior to moving into administration, Dr. Birmingham taught French & Spanish for seven years and served as Chesterfield’s Instructional Specialist/Supervisor for World Languages.

Danielle Mayo, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Mayo earned her B.S. in Mathematics from James Madison University and M.Ed in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Richmond. During her years in the classroom, she taught mathematics for Richmond City Public Schools and Henrico County Public Schools. Prior to becoming an assistant principal at Matoaca High School, she served as the Dean of Students at Midlothian High School.

Nichole Fowler, Dean of Students

Mrs. Fowler is originally from Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Virginia State University with a B.S. in Mathematics. After graduation, she immediately began her teaching career at Monacan High School located in Chesterfield County, where she remained for 8 years. During that time she earned her M.Ed in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University. Mrs. Fowler continued teaching mathematics for fourteen years at Matoaca High School before moving into administration.
